What Is a Cash Back Calculator?
A cash back calculator helps you estimate and compare the rewards you earn from different credit cards based on your actual spending habits. By entering your monthly spending by category and each card's reward rates, you can see which card puts more money back in your pocket.
This calculator also factors in annual fees and sign-up bonuses to give you the true net value of each card. Whether you're comparing a premium category card against a flat-rate card, this tool provides a clear, data-driven answer.
How Does the Cash Back Calculator Work?
The calculator uses simple formulas to compute your rewards:
Effective Rate = Total Cash Back Γ· Total Spend Γ 100
Net Annual Reward = Cash Back β Annual Fee
First Year Value = Net Annual Reward + Sign-Up Bonus
For each spending category, the calculator multiplies your monthly spend by the card's reward rate. It then sums the results, subtracts the annual fee, and adds any sign-up bonus for the first year. The comparison card uses a flat rate on all spending.
The calculator also shows the break-even monthly spend , how much you'd need to spend each month for the primary card to outperform the comparison card.
